Dan Doty is an executive coach and experiential retreat facilitator with roots in the great outdoors. He works with executives and senior leaders across a range of industries to increase performance and fulfillment by developing a relaxed confidence and increased ability to connect deeply with others.

As the Founder of EVRYMAN and now a mens work leader with an emphasis on fatherhood, Dan Doty is the tip of the spear of a global movement to create emotionally healthy men. At the core of his message is human connection and how connected men can and will lead to a safer and more equitable world.

Dan recently launched his latest podcast, Fatherhood Unlocked, intended to be a lightning rod to call men to action, to create community, and to set a new tone and standard for what fatherhood means. Dan has appeared on the Today Show, has been a guest on the acclaimed Joe Rogan podcast, and has been featured in Men’s Health magazine, among other news outlets.

In his early 20’s, he led groups of wayward young men on therapeutic wilderness expeditions, staying out in the wild up to 50 days at a time. In between time in the woods, Dan became a New York City Teaching Fellow and taught high school in the Bronx. He sat in his first men’s group in New York in 2009, and the future vision of EVRYMAN had its seed.

Dan took a professional detour and joined a television crew as a guide and PA on The Wild Within on the Travel Channel. This turned into quickly producing, shooting, and/or directing over 60 episodes of the hit hunting and food show, MeatEater.

Dan is a man’s man with a well-developed tender side. He embodies the ability for men to be exactly who they are, and is sharing that message that there are as many definitions of manhood as there are men on the planet. His writing, his podcasts, and his speaking are imbued with a simple and consistent message that we are all good at our core and the best thing we can often do is slow down, get in touch with what we feel, and take the risk to be vulnerable with others.

Topics:

  • The #1 indicator of job satisfaction according to the Institute for Research on Happiness is deep and meaningful relationships. The relationships men currently experience at work are challenging at best. In light of the #MeToo movement, they are paralyzed to become allies for women, unsure of how to “do it right”. Outdated male leadership norms combined with changing workplace gender dynamics have lead to a workplace culture trend where 60% of male managers are now uncomfortable participating in common job-related activities with women, such as mentoring, working alone together, or socializing together (LeanIn.Org). Men are struggling to find the “right” path forward, and Dan Doty has the solution. In this talk, Dan helps men realize their full potential both at home and at work. Dan shares how his organization, EVRYMAN, is at the forefront of the positive cultural shift in gender dynamics and men’s wellness. This workshop-style presentation creates the operating system for men, training them to lead by slowing down, connecting and opening up. Dan shows participants what happens when men step into their true power and how that power can include women and create real equity for all.

  • Human connection is the heaviest hitting, lowest hanging fruit in personal growth and performance today. Whether your task is to raise kids, build a business or run a team, the ability to truly connect with others is an often-missed entry point to success and fulfillment. American culture prioritizes independence and technology amplifies our isolation, and yet underneath we are social primates that do not operate at our highest potential alone. How do we move from alone and stuck to connected and free? Dan has logged more than 20,000 hours working intensively with men of all ages and has helped to craft a very simple practice of connection. By simply slowing down, getting in touch with one’s body and emotions, and reaching out to share vulnerably with others, powerful connection occurs. In this talk, Dan walks audiences through EVRYMAN's simple protocols of connection and vulnerability. They will learn about the power of human connection and how to practice simple and powerful skills of communicating and relating that can immediately be implemented in their lives. From the starting point of being seen, heard and felt, our goals and challenges become tangible and elegant.

  • In a rapidly changing landscape of gender, culture, and technology, what is the world asking of men? Dan believes that the answer might be simple. The world needs men to cast aside old prescriptive definitions of manhood or masculinity, and be true to themselves. Few people have spent as much time with men being vulnerable as Dan and what he has found is that at the core men are caring, loving, and deeply human. When men have permission to let down their guard and truly connect to others, they become forces of good in the world around them. Amongst candid stories and personal narrative, Dan brings the audience into a deeply experiential process, allowing for participants to not only hear, but feel what it’s like to live at the edge of a human connection revolution.

Note: Dan is available individually and with both female or male co-facilitators for his talks that can be formatted as workshops based on your needs.
